DEPARTMENT OF PALI AND PRAKRIT

      The Institute is situated in Nagpur. The impact of Buddhism and Pali was obvious on the academic spheres of the orange city. Dept. of Pali and Prakrit was established in 1940 with great vision. The Dept. has produced many Scholars and those are shining in their fields. One important faculty member of the college was Mr. H.L. Jain had been student of the Dept. and became principal of the college. It was a great achievement of the Dept. Some other names are to be mentioned here are Dr. S.J. Killedar who was also an eminent Scholar and contributed to Dept. from 1956 to 1986.Mrs. P.S. Killedar also worked as a Lecturer for a span of time and she promoted to P.G.T.D. of Nagpur University.

      UshaPadmanabhan is another prominent name related to the Dept. she had been alumni of the college and joined as a Lecturer in 1958 and became Director ofthe institute in 1994, adding a feather to cap to the Dept. and then worked as Directorof I.A.S. Coaching Centre from 1992 to 1994 well as Chairperson Board of Studies in PaliPrakrit in Nagpur University. She contributed in making text books and also played part in framing the syllabi for UG & P.G.

      Eminent Scholar Dr.BhauLokhande also played a virtual role for the Dept. He was student of the college and then joined as Lecturer and served the college as from 1975-78. He is well known writer and critic, too. Now Ex. Director of Dr.BabasahebAmbedkar Chair in RTM Nagpur University.

      Dr.MaltiSakhare HOD of Pali and Prakrit Department. Then selected as Associate Professor in RTMNU, Nagpur. Dr Sakhare is first D.Lit. Award PaliAndPrakrit in RTM, Nagpur University Nagpur.
